Website update
Working on updating the site with more recent work. In the meantime here is a link to the Nolan Art gallery which represents me here in Tasmania where you will find a good overview of my work.
Lightbox Gallery
Installation in the Lightbox gallery running smoothly after a few teething problems with the soundscape. In addition to various original prints and postcards on a range of mediums the words,”all you need is love”, have been translated into 26 languages and printed onto strips which are suspended from the ceiling (to float in the air perchance they may be “heard”).
I have now compiled some images with the sound and uploaded the resultant video to YouTube here
The installation grew out of a screen print created in November 2015 to express my horror at the senseless killing of innocent people in Paris on the 13th of that month. I subsequently produced some postcards of the print with the words, “all you need is love” on the reverse for distribution around Hobart.
In April this year I was in Paris and placed one among the other items on the Marianne monument in Place de la Republique. This was the beginning of the Nuit debout protest and, by talking with the people, we were able to get a better understanding of how the terrorist acts and other issues are affecting the ordinary citizens.
The citizens right to protest which has been enshrined in the Déclaration des droits de l’homme et du citoyen since 1792 is held as inviolable by the people and explains a behavior which might appear strange to outsiders. Although there were sometimes skirmishes between the police and some radical elements by and large we found these protesters to be well behaved: merely expressing their concerns about the way the country is being run and trying to change it through non violent means.
I am merely one small voice added to the many but I believe it is important for each of us to make our voices heard it these difficult times.
PERCEPTION:REALITY
What is reality? Recent events in Paris impact a visitor’s reality or, a rethink of Paris after November 2015.
Reality is what we take to be true
What we take to be true is what we believe
What we believe is based upon our perceptions
What we perceive depends on what we look for
What we look for depends on what we think
What we think depends on what we perceive
What we perceive determines what we believe
What we believe determines what we take to be true
What we take to be true is our reality

We’re back
An ineluctable truth of having a web presence is that you are at the mercy of your web host. Unfortunately my previous web host upped sticks and vanished earlier this year meaning that myself and others ceased to exist in any meaningful form in cyberspace.
The good news is that we are back – thanks to the lovely Anita at Stream Art Design – however, since it is now up to me to update the site it will be a work in progress for some time while I sort through images of work from the past decade and decide how to present them in this new format.
Hopefully you will bookmark this page and pop in from time to time to see what is happening.
